MINSK, 26 May (BelTA) - The joint Belarusian-Russian meeting of the organizing committees for the fourth Belarus-Russia Forum of Regions was held in Moscow on 26 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly.
On behalf of Belarus the meeting was attended by Vice Speaker of the Council of the Republic, the co-chairperson of the organizing committee Marianna Shchetkina, Chairman of the Council of the Republic's Permanent Commission on Regional Policy and Local Government Alexander Popkov, Chairman of the State Science and Technology committee Alexander Shumilin, representatives of Belarusian organizations. On behalf of Russia the event was attended by Vice Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly, the chairman of the Russian organizing committee Yuri Vorobyov, the heads of the Federation Council committees, leaders and specialists of the federal authorities and organizations.
The Fourth Forum of Regions “Integration of the regions of Russia and Belarus in high technology, innovation and the information society” will be held in Moscow on 29-30 June. At today's meeting, the organizing committees discussed the preparations for the forum, the schedule of plenary and breakout sessions, and other activities.
The meetings during the forum will be held across six sections: Promotion of the development of competitive high-tech industries of Russia and Belarus, Scientific and technical cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in innovation and high technology; The role of information technology in the development of civil society institutions of the Union State; Problems and prospects for approximating the legislation in the context of the development of integration of Belarus and Russia; From Belarus-Russia regional cooperation to cooperation between cities and districts: new opportunities and prospects; Cooperation between Russian and Belarusian IT companies on the markets of Russia and Belarus, and also third countries.
The Inter-Parliamentary Commission of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus and the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation agreed to hold a meeting on interregional cooperation.
Special attention was attached to the exhibition that is expected to be attended by more than 60 Belarusian organizations to showcase innovative high-technology products and technologies, joint Belarusian-Russian projects.
The business and cultural center of the Belarusian embassy in Russia will host the Days of Belarusian Science.
