MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – The M1 and other highways will undergo essential repairs in the run up to the 2nd European Games Minsk 2019, BelTA learned from Head of the Road Maintenance Office of the Belarusian Transport and Communications Ministry Aleksandr Golovnev.
“We have developed plans to repair the main highways which will be used during the European Games. A president instruction to assign $25 million for road maintenance, especially highways, has already been accepted and is going through the last stage of the approval process,” Aleksandr Golovnev noted.
The efforts will focus on the M1 highway which condition is unsatisfactory after the winter and causes drivers to complain. “Road surface of the highway will be replaced so that by the European Games the highway will be in a decent shape,” he added.
Other highways (M4, M5, M6) and roads that lead from Minsk will also undergo maintenance. “We intend to complete all the works by 1 June,” Aleksandr Golovnev noted.
