Nuclear energy prospects in spotlight at Moscow's Atomexpo

MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Prospects of development of the world nuclear energy industry will be discussed during the eighth international forum Atomexpo that will take place in Moscow on 30 May – 1 June, BelTA learned from Svetlana Bendas, OOO Atomexpo Press Secretary.

The plenary session focusing on the effect of new players on the future of the nuclear energy industry will be one of the key events of the forum. The plenary session will cover general matters of development of the world nuclear energy industry as well as cooperation with the countries that intend to develop a nuclear energy industry of their own in addition to the main aspects of Rosatom's integrated solutions. New players are the countries that have zero experience of using nuclear technologies. Their admission to the ranks of “nuclear countries” can expedite their high-tech development and will definitely affect the future of the nuclear-powered energy industry.

The session will be moderated by Agneta Rising, Director General of the World Nuclear Association.

Sergei Kiriyenko, Director General of the Russian state nuclear industry corporation Rosatom, is expected to address the Atomexpo participants with welcome remarks. Taking part in the discussion will be Rosatom First Deputy Director General, Director for Development and International Business Kirill Komarov, IAEA Deputy Director General Mikhail Chudakov, representatives of energy ministries from Bolivia, Nigeria, Jordan, Cambodia, and other countries.

Apart from that, over ten discussion platforms will be arranged as part of the Atomexpo forum.
