Most educational institutions ready for new school year in Belarus

MINSK, 15 August (BelTA) – About 90% of certificates of operational readiness of educational institutions have been issued in the country as of today, Education Minister Igor Karpenko told the media following a working meeting with Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko on 15 August, BelTA has learned.

“In general, the preparations for the new school year are on schedule. Some 89% of operational readiness certificates have been signed,” the minister said

In Belarus there are about 8,000 educational institutions of various types (from kindergartens to universities) that enroll about 2.3 million children, adolescents and students. This system employs more than 450,000 pedagogical personnel.

Two new schools will be commissioned in the country by 1 September. One of them is in Minsk, the other in the town of Krichev. Six new pre-school institutions have become operational this year. Four more will be delivered by 1 September, and another four by the end of the year.
