Minsk to host international fair of tourism services 4-7 April

MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – The international fair of tourism services Leisure 2018 will take place in the Belarusian capital from 4 to 7 April, BelTA learned from the organizers.

The event is organized by the national exhibition center BelExpo in cooperation with the Belarusian Sports and Tourism Ministry. The fair will focus on travels and excursions, medical tourism and transport services, sports equipment and insurance in tourism, services of health resorts, recreation centers, tourist clubs, hotels, and various tourist accessories. The forum will see numerous presentations, roundtable discussions and seminars on problems in the tourism industry.

The forum will draw together companies from Belarus, Bulgaria, Hungary, Egypt, Cuba, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Turkey, Ukraine, and Czechia.

According to the Belarusian National Statistical Committee, some 727,500 Belarusians travelled abroad for tourism in 2017 (up by 47% versus 2016). Of them 19% went to the CIS states, 35.5% to the European Union, and 45.5% to other countries. The most popular tourist destinations were Turkey, Egypt, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Russia, Poland, Spain, Greece, Montenegro, Czechia, Lithuania, and Italy.

The number of tourist arrivals reached 282,000 in 2017, up by 30% from 2016.
