Investigation committees of Belarus, Russia to hold joint board sessions

MOSCOW, 23 May (BelTA) – The investigation committees of Belarus and Russia have agreed they will arrange joint sessions of their boards. The relevant protocol was signed in Moscow on 23 May during the meeting of Chairman of the Investigation Committee of Belarus Ivan Noskevich and Chairman of the Investigation Committee of Russia Alexander Bastrykin, BelTA learned from Vladimir Markin, a spokesman of the Investigation Committee of Russia.

During the meeting the Chairman of the Investigation Committee of Russia noted that interaction between the Belarusian and Russian investigation agencies develops consistently, acquiring new forms and exploring new avenues. The official stressed that joint sessions of the boards will allow responding to new threats and challenges in a timely manner. “Such meetings are very useful because, by working consistently and discussing very complicated matters of regional security, by expressing arguable points of view, by reaching compromises, we counteract transnational crime in the end through joint and concerted efforts,” said Alexander Bastrykin.

The meeting touched upon other matters of bilateral cooperation, regional problems and the joint measures meant to further improve interaction in the sphere of criminal legal proceedings.
