First flight from Iraqi Kurdistan to Minsk scheduled for June

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) – The first flight from Iraqi Kurdistan to Minsk is due to take place in June, Director of the national unitary enterprise Tsentrkurort Oleg Mikhailov told the media on 25 May, BelTA has learned.

Speaking about the export of Tsentrkurort services, Oleg Mikhailov noted that the organization is currently working in three major areas. “We have chosen an eastern vector. For instance, we are intensively developing cooperation with Iraq. Last year alone we welcomed more than 400 people from this country. This year we are also having groups. Iraqi Kurdistan is a very interesting theme. We even visited the capital of this region – Erbil. The presentation of the Belarusian travel product gathered nearly 100 firms. Today we are discussing the Iraqi Airways flights from Erbil to Minsk. Its launch is preliminary scheduled for late June,” Oleg Mikhailov said.

According to the director of Tsentrkurort, China is another important area. Oleg Mikhailov stated that during the meeting heads of state of Belarus and China decided on setting up a joint company in the tourism sector. Tsentrkurort is a co-founder on Belarus' behalf. “The co-founder on China's behalf can be the country's biggest state corporation with 45,000 personnel, the turnover of $5-6 billion and 500 sales points only in China. We have already met with the head of the corporation and expect the first promotional tour in late June. I believe we will have a big flow of Chinese tourists,” he explained.

According to Oleg Mikhailov, Pakistan is the third destination that Tsentrkurort is currently working on. “We are working closely at the state level there and we are guaranteed security. In June we expect several groups from Pakistan. This eastern vector has been actively developing and we see a big potential in it,” he said.

The director of the company said that in Q1 2017 the export of tourism services by the facilities under the President's Management Directorate was up 10-15% in comparison with the same period last year.
