GOMEL, 8 September (BelTA) – Delegations from fifteen twinned cities will arrive in Gomel to participate in the celebration of the 875th anniversary since Gomel was first mentioned in chronicles, BelTA learned from Yekaterina Degtyareva, Deputy Head of the Ideology, Culture, and Youth Affairs Department of the Gomel City Executive Committee.
According to the source, the delegations will come from 15 twinned cities located, in particular, in Russia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia, China, and Georgia. The foreign delegations will be welcomed by top officials of the Gomel city administration at the Gomel Oblast Public and Cultural Center. A number of documents on cooperation are expected to be signed during the meeting.
Gomel City Day is scheduled for 16 September. The celebration will begin in Lenina Square. The key venues will include Sovetskaya Street, Biletsky Spusk Street, Lenina Square, the Sozh River bank, and the A.A. Gromyko public garden. Apart from that, exhibitions, presentations, and interactive sites will be arranged in all parts of the city. A total of over 100 various events will be organized.
The celebration will end with fireworks in five locations of the city.
