Cambodia hosts Days of Belarusian Culture

MINSK, 23 May (BelTA) – Belarusian artists presented Days of Culture in Cambodia, BelTA learned from the Culture Ministry of Belarus.

The Kingdom of Cambodia is hosting the Days of Belarusian Culture on 20-23 May. The Days opening ceremony took place in Phnom Penh on 21 May. The guests were welcomed by Belarus' Deputy Culture Minister Vasily Chernik, who is leading the official delegation of Belarus, and Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Art Phoeurng Sackona.

According to Vasily Chernik, the peoples of Belarus and Cambodia possess rich historical experience and cultural traditions and the familiarity with the national heritage of the two countries is able to mutually enrich the cultures. “Thanks to the old traditions and high level of culture, Cambodia managed to survive all the hard times and preserve its uniqueness. The Belarusian nation is also well-known for its original centuries-old culture,” the deputy minister said. He expressed hope that exchanging the Days of Culture would become a good tradition which will make its contribution to the expansion and strengthening of friendship between the people of the two countries.

The Belarusian State Dance Ensemble and Honored Artist of Belarus, soloist of the youth variety theater Viktoriya Aleshko were warmly received by the Cambodian audience. The concert was preceded by an exhibition of the National History Museum Belarus and Belarusians and an exhibition of Belarusian painter Vasily Yasyuk.
