Belarusian scientists develop boosters for cancer drugs

MINSK, 21 January (BelTA) – Boosters for anti-cancer drugs have been developed in Belarus, the coordinator of the project, Research Associate at the Physical Organic Chemistry Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Alexei Kletskov told BelTA.

“We have developed performance enhancing additives for known biologically active compounds such as anti-cancer drugs. Our product can be of great use in the pharmaceutical industry,” Alexei Kletskov said.

The synthesized additives can improve the effectiveness of biologically active substances. “If we manage to reduce the usage rate of anti-tumor medications or the concentration needed for a therapeutic effect to occur, it will improve the quality of life of patients. We assume that in the future our product can allow to create treatments no less effective than the existing ones, but with fewer side effects and less strain on the patient's body,” Alexei Kletskov noted.

The product is highly thought of by experts. The project was awarded the third place in the nomination The Best Youth Innovative Project during the nationwide contest of innovative projects in 2016.
