Belarusian health resorts growing more popular with EU tourists

MINSK, 23 April (BelTA) - Belarusian health resorts are growing more popular with tourists from EU, Gennady Bolbatovsky, the director of the Belarusian national center of health resort treatment and recuperation, told a press conference in Minsk on 23 April, BelTA informs.

Gennady Bolbatovsky stated that Russian visitors still account for over 90% of foreign customers of the health resorts in Belarus. But after the launch of the visa-free program the number of visitors from other countries, first of all from Western Europe, has been increasing.

“The proportion is changing. This year the visa-free zone will include seven health resorts in Brest Oblast and Grodno Oblast. We see the demand on the part of visitors from Western Europe,” stated Gennady Bolbatovsky.

Citizens of neighboring Poland and Baltic countries, as well as Germany, also a show a great interest in vacations in Belarus.

More than 525,000 vouchers were sold to people and organizations in 2017; more than 200,000 of them were bought by foreigners. “The proportion of Belarusians and foreigners in our health resorts is about 60% to 40%. These numbers have changed by plus or minus 2% on each side over the last four years. Speaking about the vouchers sponsored from the budget and the state social insurance, the number of Belarusian clients is constantly growing,” said Gennady Bolbatovsky.
