Belarus' Slavgorod among world's top 5 snowiest cities

MINSK, 6 February (BelTA) – Russia's Hydrometeorological Research Center (Hydrometcenter) named Belarus' Slavgorod among the snowiest cities in the world in the last 24 hours, the Russian news agency TASS informs.

According to the hydrometcenter, the top four cities are located in the European Russia: Pavlovsky Posad (21mm), Kostroma (20mm), Nikolsk (17mm), and Spas-Demensk (16mm). Belarus' Slavgorod, Mogilev Oblast is fifth (15mm).

The top three coldest cities are Russia's Verkhoyansk (-50.5° C), Verkhnevilyuisk (-49° C), and Kyusyur (-48.9° C).

The hydrometcenter expects the weather to get colder in Moscow in the next few days. The cyclone that brought heavy snowfalls is leaving the region. The Siberian anticyclone will then dominate the area and bring cold weather.
