Belarus, Russia to start working on new Union State health program soon

MINSK, 28 June (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia will soon start working on a new Regenerative Medicine program within the framework of the Belarus-Russia Union State, Chairman of the Belarusian State Science and Technology Committee Alexander Shumilin noted during the Days of Belarusian Science in Moscow, BelTA has learned from the committee's press service.

Belarusian and Russian scientists will start developing a new Union State program entitled “Regenerative Medicine” in the nearest future. Sponsored by the Belarusian and Russian healthcare ministries, the program is set to produce at least three new biomedical cell products as a result. During the Days of Belarusian Science an agreement has been achieved on developing a new space program “Integration-Union State” to be sponsored by the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus and the Russian space agency Roscosmos, Alexander Shumilin said. A list comprising 34 draft concepts of promising scientific and technical programs has been compiled so far. The State Science and Technology Committee plans to update it soon with new projects of strategic importance for both countries' development.

Alexander Shumilin stressed that Belarus-Russia scientific, technical, and innovative cooperation has had a substantial positive impact on the dynamic development of their social, cultural, and economic relations. He views the programs carried out within the framework of the Union State as one of the most effective kinds of bilateral cooperation.

The Days of Belarusian Science are hosted by the business and cultural center of the Belarusian embassy in Russia, I.M. Sechenov First Moscow State Medical University and the Russian Academy of Sciences, bringing together over 100 participants.
