Belarus' print media urged to develop new methods for reader engagement

MINSK, 3 May (BelTA) – The changeable media landscape requires print media to develop new ways of communication with the audience, Belarus' Information Minister Lilia Ananich said during the conference Mass Media in the Changing World: Professionalism and Responsibility on 3 May, BelTA has learned.

“Top managers of print media should understand that the changeable media landscape requires them to develop new modern forms and methods of interaction with the audience,” the minister pointed out.

Lilia Ananich remarked that regional print media see a sustained interest. “Regional newspapers are quite popular. We see that print media enjoy a certain interest. They offer their readers new approaches, information and always keep up to date,” Lilia Ananich noted.

The conference Mass Media in the Changing World: Professionalism and Responsibility is one of the key events of the 21st international expo Mass Media in Belarus. The conference is dedicated to information security.

The expo opened in Minsk on 3 May. It gathered representatives of Belarusian news agencies, editorial boards, and media publishing houses. Foreign guests are attending the expo too. Chinese mass media are partaking in the event in the capacity of special guests. The visitors can learn more about the publications of the Belarus-Russia Union State and Belarusian diasporas in Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, and Russia.

The international expo Mass Media in Belarus is organized by the Belarusian Information Ministry and the National Exhibition Center Belexpo with the support of Minsk City Hall, the National TV and Radio Company, the Union of Publishers and Distributors of Print Products, the House of Press, and the Belarusian Union of Journalists.
