Belarus, Japan JT discuss investment cooperation

MINSK, 12 May (BelTA) – Belarus Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov met with a delegation from Japan Tobacco led by Junichi Fukuchi, Senior Vice President at Corporate, Scientific & Regulatory Affairs Division, on 11 May, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

“The parties discussed the current issues related to the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation between Belarus and Japan,” the press service said.

The Japanese delegation has come to Belarus to attend the ceremony of laying a sakura alley at the Park of Friendship of Peoples. The event will take part on 12 May and will mark the 30th anniversary of the Chernobyl disaster and the 5th anniversary of the accident at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

120 sakura plants were donated by Japan Tobacco in a sign of friendly relations between Japan and Belarus. 30 more cherry trees will be donated to the Hi-Tech Park.
