MINSK, 24 February (BelTA) – Belarus is developing cooperation with Chinese regional scientific institutions, First Deputy Chairman of the Presidium of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Sergei Chizhik said at the international conference “The Belt and the Road: Opportunities for Belarus”, BelTA has learned.
Sergei Chizhik emphasized the range of scientific cooperation between Belarus and China, which also covers Chinese regions that have a big scientific potential. The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus has signed a lot of documents with Chinese partners.
Sergei Chizhik also spoke about the projects that are underway and will be implemented jointly with China. Thus, Huawei is setting up a scientific and technological center in Belarus in cooperation with the Lykov Heat and Mass Transfer Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. Other institutes of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus also develop mutually beneficial cooperation in various sectors, including in unmanned aviation, nanotechnologies, material sciences. The scientist also mentioned the BelGee carmaking project implemented by Belarusian and Chinese partners.
The international conference is hosted by Belarusian State University. It has been organized with the support of the Chinese Embassy in Belarus, the Economy Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences and the Confucius Institute for Sinology. Its main objective is to determine the impact of the One Belt One Road project initiated by the Chinese leadership on the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between Belarus and China in trade, investment, science and humanitarian affairs.
