A BKM electrobus can seat 31 people and has standing room for another 36. There is also space for a wheelchair or a pram. Passengers also have access to power sockets for charging their gadgets, “warm” buttons inside and outside to demand a stop. Apart from that, the passenger compartment is fitted with video surveillance cameras to allow the driver to keep an eye on what is going on inside. The new electrobuses will service three city lines and 19 suburban ones. They offer convenience and comfort to passengers in addition to environmental friendliness. Shklov District residents will be able to duly appreciate all the benefits of the new electrobuses soon.

Anatoly Isachenko said that eight charging stations had been set up in Shklov to service the new public transport vehicles. “The emergence of the new electrobuses will also give us an opportunity to analyze results of their work and I have no doubt they will produce results,” he said. “Switching to electric vehicles is important not only for large cities but also small towns. It is an absolutely new type of public transportation. It is more comfortable and environmentally friendly. The first pilot project has been realized in Shklov District. It is a gift for the district and for the entire oblast. We intend to promote the development of electric transport. There are areas affected by the Chernobyl catastrophe in the southeast of our region. We intend to buy such electric vehicles for them. The matter is now under consideration. But I can already definitely say that we will do it.”
