Academies of sciences of Belarus, China's Shandong sign cooperation agreement

MINSK, 24 May (BelTA) – The National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB) and the Academy of Sciences of China's Shandong Province signed an agreement on all-round scientific and technical cooperation in Minsk on 24 May, BelTA has learned.

The document was inked by Vladimir Gusakov, Chairman of the NASB Presidium, and Wang Yinglong, President of Shandong Academy of Sciences.

The signing ceremony was held at the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus as part of the visit of a delegation led by Shandong Province Vice Governor Wang Shujian to Belarus.

Vladimir Gusakov noted that in recent times Belarus has welcomed delegations from different provinces of China. He emphasized that the launch of specific projects is an important achievement in the bilateral relations.

The Chairman of the NASB Presidium said it is a great honor for the Belarusian Academy of Sciences to receive a large delegation from Shandong. “The delegation comprises high-ranking officials. This means that we will consolidate our agreements,” Vladimir Gusakov pointed out. On behalf of the NASB, he expressed readiness to develop constructive cooperation. “We are open to cooperation and ready to share our findings and solutions,” the Chairman of the NASB Presidium said.

Vladimir Gusakov told the Chinese delegation that the NASB operates some 60 scientific institutions. The academy performs fundamental and applied research in a wide range of fields and is a large scientific and manufacturing cluster. “Our cooperation potential is not fully used. The collaboration can be closer and more productive in a number of areas,” Vladimir Gusakov stressed.

He also believes that scientists should start working on specific projects. “We have enough framework agreements. It is advisable to conduct joint research projects, make cutting-edge products and start producing them in both countries,” Vladimir Gusakov said.

A set of cooperation documents was signed at the NASB on 24 May. These include a cooperation agreement between the NASB and the government of the Chinese city of Linyi, a framework cooperation agreement between Belarusian State University of Informatics and Radioelectronics and Zhongrui Electronics, a framework agreement on cooperation in technology transfer between the Materials Research Center of the NASB and Henghua New Materials, a framework agreement on cooperation between Linyi People's Hospital and the Belarusian Neurology and Neurosurgery National Research Center, and a framework agreement in the field of breast care.
