Palace of Rhythmic Gymnastics opens in Minsk

MINSK, 6 March (BelTA) - The Palace of Rhythmic Gymnastics opened in Pobeditelei Avenue in Minsk on 6 March. Partaking in the ceremony was Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko, BelTA informs.

Together with Olympic champions Alina Kabaeva of Russia and Marina Lobach of Belarus, Chairperson of the Belarusian Gymnastics Association Yelena Skripel and Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets, the head of state cut a symbolic ribbon in the entrance hall of the center and handed over a symbolic key to the members of the Belarusian national rhythmic gymnastics team.

The official opening ceremony was attended by President of the European Gymnastics Union Farid Gayibov, chief coach of the Belarusian national rhythmic gymnastics team Irina Leparskaya, famous Belarusian gymnasts and coaches, young athletes.

The decision to construct the sports complex was made by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko. The active stage of construction works began in October 2016. A year and a half later, the flagship facility is ready. The complex comprises two large rehearsal rooms, two rooms for beginners, four choreography rooms, an aerobics room, a swimming pool, twp saunas, a gym, a sunroom, a cafe, 18 hotel rooms, a cardio area, a physiotherapy room, a massage room, medical treatment and recreation rooms for athletes and coaches, and an administrative block.
