MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has no intention of appointing members of the new government as a mere formality. The Belarusian head of state made the statement during the government conference held on 10 November to discuss the development of the system of government agencies in charge of national security, BelTA has learned.
Following the latest presidential election the Belarus government has been retired. The head of state is supposed to appoint the new government. Alexander Lukashenko reminded about his requirement: all the people willing to work as part of the new government will have to prove their competence.
In essence the composition of the new government was suggested before the election in order to let the voters know with whom the head of state intended to work with if he won the presidential election. “Nevertheless, I would not like to sign appointment decrees as a mere formality,” said Alexander Lukashenko. Every executive will have to present his or her vision of development of the subordinate government agency. Suggestions in favor of deep reforms and even radical remodeling as well as step-by-step advancement are welcome. “Since we have implemented rather profound reforms already,” noted Alexander Lukashenko.
The heads of the government agencies in charge of national security will have to present plans concerning the development of their agencies during today's government conference. BelTA reported earlier that at the end of the conference prospects of the national law enforcement system will be clearly determined.
