Lukashenko urges more support for low-income Belarusians

MINSK, 25 October (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko ordered to work out options for additional support to low-income people. “There are many wage-related issues. The President Administration and the Government need to consider ways to support low-income people. Support is needed in terms of wages, allowances, and so on,” the head of state said when appointing the heads of the local authorities, BelTA has learned.

“We should not forget about those who are in a very difficult situation. We need to undertake something. We cannot hurt people. We need to offer them either additional jobs at every company and pay for this accordingly. Cultural workers, social workers need support too. We should think of the options here,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

He stressed that the market will not balance out anything. “We must delve into every problem and help people. The President, the Administration or the Government will not do without you (local authorities – note by BelTA),” the President said and urged them to submit proposals and be more active.
