Lukashenko expects 12% GDP growth in 2016-2020

PINSK, 27 May (BelTA) – I expect that Belarus' GDP will add not less than 12% in 2016-2020, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with the staff of Amkodor-Pinsk on 27 May, BelTA has learned.

According to the President, the program of social and economic development of the country for 2016-2020, which will be discussed during the Belarusian People's Congress, should set out ambitious tasks for the government. “In the five-year period we should have, I think, at least a 12% GDP growth. For the time being the government suggests setting the target at 10.1%,” the Belarusian leader said.

According to him, an inter-departmental working group is finalizing the forecast parameters and will make relevant proposals to the head of state. The President will instruct the government to carry out this program. “The government was told: if you can execute the program, please do. If you cannot, leave. Others will,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
