Lukashenko demands week's supply of fuel for harvest campaign in each region

MINSK, 2 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave instructions to store a week's supply of fuel in each region for the harvest period during the nationwide teleconference held on 2 August to discuss the 2017 harvest campaign, BelTA has learned.

“We should ensure an emergency one week's supply of fuel in each oblast rather than at separate farms. I would like to ask the governors to report back to me directly if this task is not fulfilled in their oblast,” the president said.

“You are in charge of the supply of fuel and fertilizers in necessary volumes for the autumn planting campaign. The emergency one week's supply of fuel should be stored by 10 August. I have formulated the instructions regarding money, fertilizers, and fuel,” Alexander Lukashenko added.

The matter of fuel supplies was raised by several governors during the conference, among them Vitebsk Oblast Governor Nikolai Sherstnev. “I would like to support my counterpart from Brest. We have enough fuel for the harvest campaign, indeed. Yet we should do the whole scope of work: gather straw, plant winter cereals, and so on. There is not enough fuel to do all these things. We would like to resolve the issue of fuel supplies in installments in order not to restrain the harvest campaign. This regards fertilizers, too. It is very difficult and sometimes even impossible to resolve this matter within one month in both physical and financial terms. We are ready to settle the payments within two or three months,” Nikolai Sherstnev added.
