Lukashenko demands more efficient science management in Belarus

MINSK, 26 January (BelTA) – It is essential to improve the existing model of science management in the country, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the ceremony to present doctor of sciences diplomas and professor certificates to scientists and lecturers on 26 January, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko is convinced that “we need to take a critical, rational, and businesslike look and see how efficient the existing model of science management is.”

The head of state stressed that today's meeting is only a prelude to the big discussion which will take place at the National Academy of Sciences. “We need to thoroughly analyze the situation in science, discuss its present and future,” the President said.

In his opinion, there are many pending issues. “You can outline some of them at today's meeting. Besides, at the forthcoming large-scale session we will be able to discuss all your proposals and, probably, even solve some of the issues. Therefore, I encourage you to take an active part in the preparations for this event. We need fresh ideas and initiatives,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

In the run-up to Belarusian Science Day, he expressed sincere gratitude to scientists for their huge work and presented certificates and diplomas.

Addressing those present at the ceremony, the President said: “Do your best to persuade the society that there are scientists able to do great things in Belarus. This Year of Science should be the year of achievements.”
