Lukashenko: Care for people is the main indicator of Belarus' achievements

MINSK, 1 July (BelTA) – Care for people is the main indicator of the achievements of the sovereign Belarus, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said on 1 July at a solemn ceremony to mark Belarus Independence Day, BelTA has learned.

“Care for people is the main indicator of our achievements. The targeted policy aimed at supporting young people, mothers and children, and low-income segments of the population helps improve public welfare and benefits the demographic situation. We have managed to considerably increase the birth rate and reduce mortality. Today Belarus ranks in the top 50 of the list of countries by the Human Development Index,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.

The Belarusian leader pointed out that the national system of healthcare has made an immense leap forward. Unique surgeries that could only be dreamed of some 15-20 years ago are performed in Belarus today. “We have not given up on our previous achievements that guarantee free healthcare for people. The same applies to the system of education and some other areas. By far not all developed countries can boast this,” the Belarusian head of state stressed.
