MINSK, 14 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko approved the resolution on Belarus' state border protection in 2016, BelTA has learned.

At the session dedicated to the approval of the state border protection resolution Alexander Lukashenko draw special attention to the modern challenges and threats, including the migration crisis in Europe. “Now we are witnessing how seemingly rich and well-organized Europe is flooded by migrants. But we should not sit idly and think that we have nothing to do with it. It is happening near our borders,” the President said.

The head of state expressed confidence that such a situation is impossible in Belarus. However, we must do our best to preserve the existing migration policy. Alexander Lukashenko remarked that Belarus is not against the increasing inflow of migrants, but absolutely all migration cases will be scrutinized.

“Belarus is a transit state, if we neglect these processes, just like Europe did, we will be flooded by migrant crimes in the future. Therefore, we should pursue the same policy as we did before,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
