DZERZHINSK DISTRICT, 3 November (BelTA) - The State Defense Industries Committee of Belarus has a task to deliver cutting-edge missile launchers to the Belarusian army in 2016-2017, Chairman of the State Defense Industries Committee Sergei Gurulev told reporters after President Alexander Lukashenko's visit to the high-precision electromechanical plant in Dzerzhinsk District on 3 November, BelTA has learned.
During the visit to the multi-purpose universal workshop of the plant Alexander Lukashenko was made familiar with the progress in the localization of the production of rockets for multiple rocket launchers.
Sergei Gurulev noted that that head of state gave a task to supply the Belarusian army with cutting-edge missile launchers in 2016-2017, and the State Defense Industries Committee has taken on the task.
The President was informed about the fulfillment of his instructions to promote missile production in Belarus and to provide modern missile equipment to the Armed Forces.
According to Sergei Gurulev, on 3 November the head of state checked the fulfillment of his instructions. The State Defense Industries Committee and organizations engaged in the designing of a multiple rocket launcher with a 200km range reported on the progress in their work. A scientific and production cluster has been created in this field. “All equipment, outbuildings and communications are modern, workers are highly qualified,” the chairman of the State Defense Industries Committee stressed.
Apart from that, during the visit to the plant the President was informed about the production structure, financial and economic activities and prospects of the enterprise. Alexander Lukashenko also saw the Polonez multiple rocket launcher system and equipment for testing rocket engines at the demonstration platform, military and special equipment. In particular, the head of state was shown a combat vehicle used for the transportation of launch barrels, a transloader meant for loading, unloading and transportation, and a battle management system.
