Belarus president awards Georgian singer at Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 13 July (BelTA) – During the solemn opening ceremony of the 26th international art festival Slavianski Bazaar in Vitebsk on 13 July Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko bestowed a special prize Through Art to Peace and Understanding on the People's Artist of Georgia and Russia Tamara Gverdtsiteli, BelTA has learned.

Tamara Gverdtsiteli thanked Alexander Lukashenko. “I cannot hide my joy and excitement. You have done me a great honor. You are a guarantor of peace and understanding. Here in Vitebsk I had my first concerts with Michel Legrand. Here I worked with Belarusian, Ukrainian, Polish friends and other friends for many years. I thank all of you. I thank you, Alexander Grigoryevich Lukashenko! Fate gave me the love of the Belarusian nation and this love is mutual. I love you. I thank you for this honor,” said the singer.
