Belarus, Egypt to step up cooperation in security, personnel training

CAIRO, 15 January (BelTA) – Belarus and Egypt intend to bolster cooperation in the sphere of security, BelTA learned from the joint declaration signed by Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko and Egypt President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi after negotiations on 15 January.

The heads of state noted that terrorism and extremism still represent a serious threat to regional and international security and stability. The sides confirmed the need to step up cooperation in the fight against terrorism and terrorist organizations, transnational organized crime, illegal trade in narcotic substances, illegal migration, and trafficking in persons.

For the sake of jointly counteracting new threats and challenges Belarus and Egypt intend to arrange consultations, share information and the best practices, train personnel, arrange joint exercises, and promote interaction in other spheres.
