Union State Council of Ministers to meet in Gomel on 8 December

MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – The Belarus-Russia Union State Council of Ministers will meet in Gomel on 8 December, State Secretary of the Union State Grigory Rapota told the media after the meeting of the High-Level Group of the Council of Ministers of the Union State on 17 November, BelTA has learned.

“The Council of Ministers is meeting on 8 December,” Grigory Rapota said. The agenda will include a package of trade and economic issues related to the balance of trade, the creation of equal conditions to boost competition, and the Union State programs. The meeting will also touch upon the organization of the Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia, cooperation in the cultural sector (including the joint participation in the further reconstruction of thee Brest Fortress).

There are plans to consider the institution of the Union State Award in Science and Technology. “The Council of Ministers should have its say as it means financial expenses. The Award in Science and Technology will be based on the same principles as the Award in Literature and Art. Perhaps we will have it on a rota basis: each award once in two years,” he explained.

The meeting in Gomel will also consider the Union State budget.
