MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) - Andrea Rigoni, Rapporteur on Belarus of the Political Affairs Committee of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), is expected to visit Belarus on 22-25 March, BelTA learned from the press service of the House of Representatives.
On 23 March, Andrea Rigoni is set to meet with Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko to discuss the participation of the National Assembly in the PACE events, capital punishment matters, Belarus' further accession to the conventions of the Council of Europe and also the Belarusian-Italian cooperation in the Central European Initiative and the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.
Besides, the National Assembly of Belarus will host an enlarged session of its working group on death penalty. The working group will discuss concrete events aimed at initiating a wide public discussion on death penalty in the country. Taking part in the meeting, apart from Andrea Rigoni, will be representatives of the government bodies, NGOs, academic community, the diplomatic corps and international organizations.
