OSCE eager to mediate in illegal property appropriation problem in Ukraine conflict zone

MINSK, 3 August (BelTA) – Participants of the negotiations on resolving the conflict in Ukraine have agreed they will ask the OSCE to mediate in resolving the problem of illegally appropriated property, BelTA learned from the OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik on 3 August.

According to the source, participants of the working group on economic affairs discussed a package of issues concerning the illegally appropriated public and private Ukrainian property in several areas of Donetsk Oblast and Lugansk Oblast. They agreed they would contact the OSCE for the sake of requesting possible mediation in resolving this complicated problem, explained Martin Sajdik.

Martin Sajdik also mentioned progress in negotiations on the operation of the railways. “Some shifts have been secured with regard to paying salaries to railway workers,” said the OSCE special representative. He said he was concerned about the fact that previously restored sections of the railroad were damaged again. Those are railway sections near the populated localities Titovka and Mayorsk. Fully observed ceasefire is necessary for resuming repair operations once again.
