ew head of Swiss Embassy Office begins his tenure in Minsk

MINSK, 16 October (BelTA) – Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko met with the head of the Office of the Embassy of Switzerland in Minsk Claude Altermatt in connection with the beginning of his diplomatic mission in the country, BelTA learned from the ministry's press service.

“During the meeting the parties discussed the topical issues of bilateral political dialogue, the status and prospects for expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation between Belarus and Switzerland, and also the development of inter-parliamentary interaction,” the press service informed.

Switzerland has not yet opened a full-fledged embassy in Belarus. The Minsk Office of the Embassy of the Swiss Confederation has been operating since July 2007. Its official opening was held on 11 February 2008.
