Minsk Declaration adopted at OSCE PA annual session

MINSK, 9 July (BelTA) – The Minsk Declaration was adopted at the OSCE PA annual session in the Belarusian capital on 9 July, BelTA has learned.

The Minsk Declaration is based on the resolutions adopted following the discussions and contains the recommendations to national governments, parliaments and the international community on responding to the present-day challenges and threats. For example, the MPs are concerned over the existing challenges in the field of security throughout the OSCE region, including threats to cybersecurity, terrorism, protracted conflicts and the general deterioration of trust, security and cooperation.

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly urges participating states to recommit to multilateral diplomacy in the pursuit of comprehensive security and to intensify the efforts to address the most pressing social problems. The Parliamentary Assembly reiterated support for the Package of Measures for the implementation of the Minsk Agreements adopted and signed in Minsk in February 2015. The MPs urge the OSCE participating states to intensify efforts to address economic and environmental problems, to seek opportunities for the development of regional and subregional cooperation.

The Minsk Declaration also includes several additional resolutions sponsored by individual parliamentarians on a wide range of issues: counter-terrorism, migration, inadmissibility of fomenting sectarian strife, on strengthening energy security.
