Makei: Belarus, EU will sign visa facilitation, readmission agreements sooner or later

MINSK, 30 January (BelTA) – The agreements on visa facilitation and readmission between Belarus and the EU will be signed sooner or later, Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told the media following a meeting with European Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy Johannes Hahn, BelTA has learned.

“Mr Johannes Hahn and I discussed the prospects for signing the agreements on visa facilitation and readmission between Belarus and the EU. We still have a few issues to settle. I am confident that we will find the necessary solutions and, as the bilateral relations will be further progressing, we will sign the agreements,” Vladimir Makei noted.

In his words, Belarus is the world's leader in terms of the number of Schengen visas issued per person. The number of visa denials is also very low in Belarus. “I am confident that sooner or later we will be able to address the rest of the issues on the agenda,” the minister said.
