Klimkin: No desired results on roadmap, talks will continue

MINSK, 29 November (BelTA) – The Normandy Four talks in Minsk have ended. When talking to reporters, Ukraine Minister of Foreign Affairs Pavlo Klimkin said that the discussion on the roadmap had not produced the desired results, and the talks on the roadmap would continue in various formats, according to RBK-Ukraine.

According to TASS, Pavlo Klimkin said that Ukraine and Russia cannot agree on the provisions of the roadmap. He said that Ukraine insists, in particular, on ensuring access for the OSCE to the border with the Russian Federation in Donbass, and on deploying an armed OSCE mission. Pavlo Klimkin also admitted that the negotiating parties “did not address the issue of how (future – TASS) elections can meet the OSCE standards” in part of ensuring security.

As was reported, Foreign Ministers Sergei Lavrov, Pavlo Klimkin, Frank-Walter Steinmeier and Jean-Marc Ayrault arrived in Minsk to participate in the talks. Attending were also OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik, Chief Monitor of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine Ertugrul Apakan, and OSCE SMM Principal Deputy Chief Monitor Alexander Hug.

The agreement to hold the meeting of the Normandy Four foreign ministers in November was reached by the Normandy Four presidents: Russian President Vladimir Putin, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko during a meeting in Berlin on 19 October.
