Hungarian MPs welcome lifting of EU sanctions against Belarus

MINSK, 18 February (BelTA) – The Hungarian MPs welcomed the lifting of the EU sanctions against Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The Hungary National Assembly hosted a meeting between Ambassador of Belarus Alexander Khainovsky and members of the Hungarian-Belarusian friendship group who represent the largest parties in Hungary. "They welcomed the withdrawal of most of the European Union sanctions against Belarus, and noted the need to develop equal partnership between countries and integration associations," the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs informed.

In his welcoming speech Chairman of the Group of Friendship, Vice Speaker of the National Assembly of Hungary Sandor Lezsak underlined the interest of the Hungarian MPs in establishing close cooperation with the Belarusian colleagues in order to develop the all-round Belarusian-Hungarian cooperation.

The meeting was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, and students studying the Belarusian language in Hungarian universities.

Alexander Khainovsky informed the members of the group on the situation in Belarus. Considerable attention was paid to the promising areas of bilateral cooperation, including in the economic and investment fields. The parties agreed to maintain close contact and bolster the Belarusian-Hungarian cooperation.
