MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) – Ecuador's Minister of Foreign Affairs Maria Fernanda Espinosa Garces is in Belarus on an official visit on 17-19 May, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
On 18 May the Ecuadorian foreign minister is expected to meet with Belarus' Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei. The parties are set to sign a number of bilateral documents.
Belarus and Ecuador established diplomatic relations in May 1993. The countries opened their embassies in 2014. The legal framework of bilateral relations includes six intergovernmental and ten ministerial agreements.
Belarus exports to Ecuador its potash and nitrogen fertilizers, wire, and oil products. Belarus mainly imports Ecuadorian flowers and bananas. In January-March 2018, mutual trade totaled $44.6 million, up 83$ from the same period in 2017.More about Politics
