CSTO Councils joint meeting underway in Minsk

MINSK, 30 November (BelTA) – A joint meeting of the Foreign Ministers Council, the Defense Ministers Council and the Committee of Security Council Secretaries of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) is taking place in Minsk, BelTA informs.

Belarus is represented at the meeting by Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei, Defense Minister Andrei Ravkov and State Secretary of the Security Council Stanislav Zas.

According to CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov, the meeting will consider the documents submitted to the CSTO Collective Security Council summit.

The participants of the meeting are expected to share opinions on the progress made in the implementation of the decisions made at the previous sessions of the CSTO Collective Security Council and discuss practical aspects of cooperation.

In his greeting word, Vladimir Makei noted that it is a great honor to welcome the CSTO ministers of foreign affairs, defense ministers and secretaries of the security councils in Minsk. “Our meeting is taking place ahead of the Collective Security Council, which in fact means that we are taking stock of the progress made by the organization over the previous year. We are to consider a packed agenda of our joint meeting and pay priority attention to the documents that are submitted to the heads of state. I am convinced that today's meeting will be fruitful as always,” Vladimir Makei said.
