Belarusian Defense Ministry to Ukrainian media: Don't look for an enemy where there are none

MINSK, 28 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Defense Ministry has made a few comments about Ukrainian mass media reports, which claim that during the latest exercise of the CIS united air defense system the military units practiced delivering air strikes against targets in Ukraine, BelTA has learned.

Vladimir Makarov, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Central Office for Ideology of the Belarusian Defense Ministry, said: “Don't look for enemies where there are assuredly none.”

The official remarked that the Belarusian Defense Ministry is open to mass media as much as possible. Detailed information about the development of the Belarusian army, about international military cooperation can be found on the Defense Ministry's website and in top Belarusian mass media. Among other things the information includes cooperation with CIS member states, efforts to ensure regional security, interaction in military affairs, and the development of joint (united) systems.

For instance, information about the CIS united air defense system exercise that took place on 26 October can be found on the website of the Belarusian Defense Ministry. The exercise involved on-duty air defense units of Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan.

“The attempts to inadequately interpret these reports are clearly inappropriate. We would advise our partners not to seek enemies where, they can rest assured, there are none,” concluded the spokesman of the Belarusian Defense Ministry.
