Belarus to defend interests of medium-income countries at ECOSOC forum in New York

MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Belarusian Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Valentin Rybakov will visit New York, USA on 22-23 May, BelTA learned from Dmitry Mironchik, Head of the Information Office, Press Secretary of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, on 18 May. In New York Valentin Rybakov will take part in a high-level forum of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) to discuss future actions in development financing.

During the forum Valentin Rybakov will present Belarus' approaches to financing from the point of view of reaching the sustainable development goals. Apart from that, participation in the high-level forum will be used to advance Belarus' initiative in favor of taking into account interests of medium-income countries.

While in New York the Belarusian diplomat will also take part in the second informal themed session on fighting migration causes and in an event focusing on financing the sustainable development goals and cooperation in taxation matters.
