Belarus seeks closer ties with Switzerland's Romandy

MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) – Belarus has plans to expand cooperation with the Romandy, the French-speaking regions of Switzerland. Cooperation prospects were discussed during a working visit of Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Evgeny Shestakov to Switzerland, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

On 19 June Evgeny Shestakov held a meeting with representatives of the business community and local authorities of the cantons of Fribourg and Vaud in Lausanne. The parties discussed ways to develop ties taking into account plans to open Belarus' Honorary Consulate in Lausanne.

Evgeny Shestakov is in Lausanne to take part in the 10th session of the Belarus-Switzerland committee for trade and economic cooperation.
