MINSK, 16 May (BelTA) – Belarus and Russia share concern about NATO's advance to the East, BelTA learned from Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov on 16 May.
According to the source, the negotiations between Sergei Lavrov and his Belarusian counterpart Vladimir Makei touched upon matters of security in the European region. The sides share their concern about NATO's advance to the East. “We share the concern taking into account the fact that our colleagues from NATO member states are trying to build up confrontation, are moving military infrastructure to the East, close to our borders,” said Sergei Lavrov.
The Russian Minister of Foreign Affairs pointed out that these matters are discussed in the atmosphere of pumped up emotions. “Neither Russia nor Belarus is an adherent of such confrontational policies,” stressed the official. Sergei Lavrov went on saying that both countries are in favor of resolving any conflicts on principles of equal and indivisible security for all.
