Belarus' MFA condemns murder of Kosovo Serb politician Oliver Ivanovic

MINSK, 18 January (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemns the assassination of Kosovo Serb leader Oliver Ivanovic, spokesman for the ministry Dmitry Mironchik told the media on 18 January, BelTA has learned.

“Belarus strongly condemns this act,” Dmitry Mironchik said.

He underlined that the assassination will not contribute to the stability in the region and may fuel political tensions. “This happened in the face of emerging prospects for resuming the Belgrade-Pristina dialogue and the internal dialogue on Kosovo in Serbia,” the spokesman said.

Oliver Ivanovic, head of the Freedom, Democracy, Justice civic initiative, was killed in Kosovska Mitrovica on 16 January. According to his lawyer, the politician was hit by five bullets.
