Belarus-Mexico friendship group in Mexican parliament

MINSK, 5 October (BelTA) – A Belarus-Mexico friendship group will be established as part of the Mexican parliament. The document on establishing the group was signed as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to Cuba with concurrent accreditation to Mexico Alexander Aleksandrov visited Mexico, the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BelTA.

The Belarusian diplomat met with the president of the Senate of the Mexican parliament and chairpersons of the international affairs commissions of the Senate and the Chamber of Deputies. Topical items on the bilateral agenda were discussed as well as ways to step up interparliamentary ties.

Alexander Aleksandrov took part in the solemn ceremony of signing the act on establishing the Mexico-Belarus friendship group in the Mexican parliament. The ambassador also met with top officials of the ministries of foreign affairs, economy, agriculture, representatives of business circles of Mexico.

Matters concerning the expansion of the legal base of the bilateral relations were discussed as well as the enhancement of Belarusian-Mexican cooperation in trade and economic affairs. Preparations for the first session of the Belarusian-Mexican economic commission, political consultations between the ministries of foreign affairs, the organization of a number of bilateral projects of mutual interest were discussed as well.
