Belarus hopes to sign border agreement with Poland as soon as possible

MINSK, 22 March (BelTA) – Belarus hopes to sign the state border agreement with Poland as soon as possible, Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei told media after the talks with his Polish counterpart.

Vladimir Makei noted that the border verification has been completed; work on international legal formalization of the results of this work is in progress. “We will work on the agreement, which I hope will be signed as soon as possible,” the Belarusian minister said. He added that the previous agreement was signed back in the 1960s between Poland and the USSR.

Talking about the modernization of the border infrastructure, Vladimir Makei noted that Belarus and Poland agreed to work to obtain additional funds from external sources to maximize the development of the joint border.

Vladimir Makei expressed hope that all issues in the field of cross-border cooperation will be resolved soon.
