Belarus, Cyprus mull over parliamentary groups of friendship

MINSK, 19 January (BelTA) – The possibility of setting up groups of friendship in the parliaments of Belarus and Cyprus was discussed at a meeting between Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Oleg Kravchenko and President of the House of Representatives of Cyprus Demetris Syllouris in Cyprus on 19 January, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Oleg Kravchenko and Demetris Syllouris discussed the ways of intensifying bilateral cooperation in general and also between the parliaments of Belarus and Cyprus, including the possibility of setting up groups of friendship, exchanged views on the prospects for expanding direct contacts between parliamentarians, including in the international arena.

The head of the Belarusian delegation informed Demetris Syllouris about the results of the meetings held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Cyprus, the Cyprus Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and with the honorary consul of Belarus on 18 January.

The parties agreed on the existence of a huge potential for the development of bilateral contacts and expressed their commitment to continue the coordinated work on its implementation.
