Belarus, Cuba praise high level of trust and friendly bilateral relations

MINSK, 6 June (BelTA) – Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Yevgeny Shestakov and First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Marcelino Medina Gonzalez took note of a high level of trust and traditionally friendly bilateral relations during their meeting in Havana, BelTA learnt from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Yevgeny Shestakov's visit to Cuba took place on 2-5 June. The Belarusian diplomat held bilateral consultations on political matters with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Marcelino Medina Gonzalez. “The parties hailed a high level of trust and traditionally friendly relations between Belarus and Cuba, efficient cooperation between the two states in international organizations. The sides talked over the current state and prospects for developing comprehensive bilateral cooperation. The parties also exchanged opinions on the current international and regional agenda,” the press service of the Belarusian ministry said.

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs also held consultations with First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Foreign Investment Antonio Carricarte Corona on the issues related to trade and economic cooperation. The parties considered the implementation of joint projects and discussed promising areas to develop cooperation in the trade and economic sector, including with the use of export credit mechanisms.

While in Cuba, the Belarusian diplomat took part in the summit of the Association of Caribbean States (Belarus got an observer status in the Association in January 2016).
