Belarus CEC to observe presidential election in Russia

MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus will take part in the observation of the presidential election in Russia, Chairwoman of the Central Election Commission Lidia Yermoshina told the media on 13 February, BelTA has learned.

Lidia Yermoshina noted that observing the presidential election in Russia will be two representatives of the Belarusian CEC: secretary Elena Dmuhailo and CEC member Irina Tselikovets. They will work at the invitation of Chairwoman of the Russian Central Election Commission Ella Pamfilova and as part of the CIS observation mission.

“Our observers will act as the guests of the Russian CEC and will sign the final statement of the CIS observation mission,” the CEC head said.

The presidential election in Russia is scheduled for 18 March 2018. The election campaign officially started on 18 December 2017.
