Minsk sports festival to bring together 300 university students

MINSK, 3 August (BelTA) – The fourth Minsk City Sports Festival, which will take place on 5 August at the BNTU stadium, will bring together 300 participants – members of the student summer work brigades, BelTA learned from Sergei Klishevich, First Secretary of the Minsk City Committee of the BRSM Youth Union.

The sports festival, which is aimed at promoting healthy lifestyle among the youth and developing the movement of student summer work brigades, will feature around 30 teams composed of student teams: construction, teachers', service, environmental, agricultural and also a student's construction team from St. Petersburg formed by the all-Russian public organization “Russian Student Brigades”.

During the festival the participants will compete in four sports. The program includes both team events (football, volleyball, tug-of-war) and individual competitions (kettlebell).

The central event of the festival will be an open dialogue “Student summer work brigades today: a look into the future”. The dialogue will feature Deputy Minister of Architecture and Construction Dmitry Semenkevich, First Deputy Chairman of the Minsk City Hall Fyodor Rymashevsky, Second Secretary of the Central Committee of the BRSM Youth Union Elina Braga, and the heads of major enterprises of Minsk.

The sports festival of student summer work brigades was first held on 1 August 2013 and gathered around 100 participants. The forum has been traditionally organized by the BRSM Minsk city branch.
